Harvey Nichols Style Academy

I’ve been working at Harvey Nichols for a few months now,and yesterday I got the chance to take part in Style Academy with a few of my colleagues, including stylist/blogger Georgia Gordon. The one-day intensive course including tutorials by  various experts on how to style different genders, skin tones, body shapes etc, and for different budgets, styles and occasions. We got to learn about how make up, jewellery, accessories and fragrance can bring the look together along with the clothes, and a more in-depth review of how different styles of service work on luxury fashion customer. It culminated in a styling adventure challenge, where Georgia and I teamed up to be personal stylists for eachother and take pictures of the outfits for various briefs. It was great dressing up with no inhibitions, no limitations on price (of course we went a bit crazy!), and with a new, refreshing perspective from others.

My first outfit was a
Sachin & Babi light blue satin gown  with embroidered floral design, sequin embellishments, contrast black crepe bodice, and oversized bows at the back. You can buy the dress here

We paired it with the iconic silver Crisp Packet Clutch by Anya Hindmarch, and some silvery grey Jimmy Choo court shoes to die for!

I loved the combo of black, silver and blue, with pops of colour in the flowers. If we’d had more time I would definately play about with hair and make-up, perhaps opting for an Edwardian style up-do and some natural, glowy beauty products from Laura Mercier or Charlotte Tilbury.

Look number two: a cute little suede frock by BCBG MazAzria. This fit me like a glove, and I was surprised how much I liked the bold coral-red against my pale skin.

The ruffled, pleated bottom of the skirt added a really cute touch, so we decided to push that kitsch element further with some awesome Mickey Mouse Trainers, part of the Disney x MOA collection.

Finally, to add a bit more of a chic finish, we HAD to add the covetable Givenchy Antigona bag! (A steal at only £1430.00! I joke….)

Last but not least, the most bright and colourful outfit that I would never usually wear or pick for myself in a shop, but I loved it once it was on, and I’m glad I was encouraged to take risks!

For this one we paired the most beautiful metallic, sparkly pleated midi skirt by Christopher Kane (see that swish!) with a hot pink t-shirt by Kenzo, fabulous wee yellow chain handbag by Stella McCartney and finally, mesmerising emerald Manolo Bhanik stilettos

The clashing colour pop look is not very me (there’s no black, say whatttttt), but what do you think?
