Today’s post is short but sweet, and for no other reason than my infatuation with luxury womenswear label Rodarte, an American brand based around the concepts of modern femininity, intricate craft and fine art. launched back in 2005 that seems to be on every fashion insider’s radar 24/7.
After coming across their latest collection, the ready-to-wear (RTW) Fall 2016 range, on the catwalks, I couldn’t help but pawn over each and every piece. This stunning collection of art-nouveau, fantasy-inspired outfits, nodding to the huge AW16 trend of gothic lace, embroidery and embellishment, really made a statement by pairing Rodarte’s classic ladylike dresses with tough leathers and metals, creating a romantic, dramatic and dark storyline.
Its the accessories in this collection that really make my fashionista heart beat a little faster. Patent belt buckle collars, intricate floral earrings, embellished hair adornments and oh, lets not forget THOSE SHOES!!! I have been admiring pictures of these shoes on Instagram and Tumblr for weeks now, not sure why I’m so captivated, but oh my, they are what I imagine a cabaret show girl would wear to her luxury Italian shopping trips.
The dark lips on each model contrasted against flawless skin and bare eyes completes the look perfectly, really complimenting the colours and textures of the clothes. I also love the simple, undone hair with the flitting accessories, like they are little flowers that have grown onto the head.
Overall I see Rodarte’s masterpiece curation here as the costumes for a mysterious, witchy Romeo and Juliet meets A Midsummer Nights Dream, with an all-female cast of goths with dark secrets.
