I don’t do outfit posts too often because I doubt many people are overly interested in my clothing (although I am partial to selfie much more on my instagram @urbanity_blog) but this weekend has been sunny and I’ve really enjoyed relaxed dressing for my rare weekend not working in a shop! These Zara culottes have been hanging unworn for a while but never find the right occasion of them. A summer evening walk and a cute cinema date in these babies was ideal, teamed with a simple black tee and birkenstocks. Also, you may notice my rather strawberry-milkshake-esque hair! Lately I’ve been getting bored with being blonde so I’ve experimented with different semi-permanent pinks and purples. Its great to use these wash-in dyes from Crazy Colour because there no commitment (as I’m way too scared to dedicate my hair to being forever pink) and it gives you a chance to bring out your fun side and see what suits you.
Have you ever dreamed of being half woman, half stag? Ever dreamed of dressing as a McQueen-esque muse? Last month I had the incredible opportunity to model for creative director Cait Owens, a studying make up artist completing her final portfolio, and be photographed by the endlessly talented Daina Renton. We scouted for locations for hours but ended up on the stunning South Queensferry beach right underneath the old Forth Road Bridge, a perfect Scottish backdrop for my high waisted red tartan trousers, black suede ankle boots, white ruffled Victorian-style blouse, maroon leather gloves, and of course, this stunning antler headpiece that now sits proudly in my living room as we speak. Sometimes, life presents weird opportunities. When one of them involved being stared at by old ladies in a small beach village, followed by sitting in costa for lunch wearing a crazy get-up, then I say hell yes.
In the past month, I’ve modelled in a couple of photoshoots for covers and editorials of ‘Witch Way Magazine’, styled and directed by my fabulous friend Daina Renton. The other models (Maddy, Cait, Kirsten, Lisa) and I were photographed by Marisa Bruce and Daina herself, and the wonderfully weird hair and make-up was courtesy of Cait Owens. On Sunday I met up with Alice Cruickshank, gorgeous red-haired retro fashionista, who blogs over at Twenty Something City. We decided to go on a stroll around the hidden graffiti-laden treasures of Edinburgh and team up to take some street-style shots for our respective blogs. The theme was retro, with Alice in her 70’s flared jumpsuit and me in my 90’s polka-dot jumpsuit! I teamed mine (from Snooper’s Paradise in Brighton) with a Monki oversized denim jacket (similar here), classic vintage Converse hi-tops, some silver hoop earrings and Forever 21 sunglasses.
Last Thursday I had the absolute pleasure of taking part in a new photoshoot for fashion brand I Dream Of Shapes, which is soon to launch in Edinburgh. The idea was to get together some wonderful local Bloggers (Cera Kamonji, Jennifer Brownlie, Katie Williams, Emily Campbell, Kimberley Grahame and Sophie Middleton) to model these beautiful bespoke designs and show a whole range of body shapes and personalities! I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the event (and completely fell in love with these super-high waisted trousers)! Big thank you to Lucie for organising this <3(more…)
