Fifties Femmes

This semester at university I had to recreate Wonderland magazine with a 1950’s theme for the modern day. Together with my brilliant little team of fashion students I created a digital and printed copy of the publication styling, writing, editing directing and photographing all the content. Now that the project is finally over (phew!) I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite images we created during this project, featuring some fabulous fifties femmes. Let me know what you think!

London Fashion Week Festival

Many bloggers, myself included, have the tendency to sugarcoat less than perfect experiences with brands in an attempt to maintain a PR-friendly image. But I’m going to be totally honest with you about my day at London Fashion Week Festival 2017, the newly revamped and relocated London Fashion Weekend. It kinda sucked.
(Stay with me, its not all doom and gloom…)

Miss Vicky Viola: Vintage Style

For the past 6 weeks, I’ve been creating a 1950’s inspired magazine as part of a group project for Fashion Communication at university. We’ve done some fabulous photoshoots and interviews which will all be coming up on the blog at some point, but for now, as we frantically prepare for the final deadline next week (eep!), check out a little editorial we did with the wonderful retro style blogger Miss Vicky Viola (http://missvickyviola.com) in Edinburgh. Photos by the lovely Emma Balfour. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Following on from Wednesday’s post, here is another in the Nu Blvck series from our ‘Ways to Style’ photoshoot with Holly May Wesley, featuring the large pyjama scarf in the rust/navy colour way, and the small pyjama scarf in dark grey tied to my navy grab bag. I styled this look very simply, with a taupe Hayley McSporran top, a Forever 21 brass pendant, Mandi Candi Boutique boots and some H&M high waisted black jeans.

How to Style: The Nu Blvck Handbag

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to collaborate with some of my favourite Scottish fashion industry practitioners: Rebecca Flory and Andrew Vincent (founders of womenswear accessories brand Nu Blvck), Kirsty Halliday (renowned stylist part of of I’ll Be Your Mirror), Hannah Louise Baxter (fashion designer at her eponymous label) and talented photographer Holly May Wesley. Scroll on to see the results of our ”Ways to Style” photoshoot featuring two of my picks from their latest collection: The Grab Bag and The Knot Bag. I styled these handmade, locally produced lustworthy handbags with a classic Burberry-style trench coat, cosy woolen scarf, chic leather gloves, and of course freshly dyed silver-blue hair by the wonderful Austen Thomson.
