I am so excited to finally be able to share a project I’ve been working on for the BBC: Illuminate, a series of 12 mini documentaries about Scottish designers and artists. Together with the most hard-working twenty-something I know, cinematographer Perry Jonsson. I’m so proud of what we achieved, and really enjoyed being involved in project based on supporting local creatives, a subject of true passion for me, and working with a talented friend was the icing on the cake.
‘New Waverley‘ is an exciting development in Edinburgh, including a re-vamped shopping mall, two brand new hotels and of course The Arches, the first stage of the project so far. The Arches are a series of salons, restaurants, cafes, shops and offices located in the unique Victorian architecture underneath the old Waverley bridge. I was lucky enough to attend the launch party last month, and got to mingle with some fellow bloggers while getting an exclusive look at all the new independent business there. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to stay and take lots of pictures (or even a slice of free pizza!) My favourite Arches tenants? Tempo Tea, Lauren Gollan and Buff…
Today I went along to the Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show at Evolution House, namely to see my friend James St Findlay‘s incredible graphic design project, but also to check out the work of the other students, from illustrators to architects.
I was truly in awe of the talent and creativity this year and although every exhibition piece I visited was beyond anything I could dream of creating (note to self: get back into art again!), a few projects really stood out to me.
If I could have spent all day admiring the art I would, but if you have a moment, the degree show will be on until the 5th June at various campuses, so definitely worth paying a wee visit.
Hinks say farewell to their drummer Gab! And what better time to release their new E.P, with support from the fantastic Angus Munro, Dan Collins Band and Hugh Kelly!
We hope to see you there on 24th June from 7pm at The Voodoo Rooms, it will be a night to remember! And we have a few surprises up our sleeve too!

Keep your eyes peeled for the No One music video coming soon. Spoiler alert: prepare to be amazed by a talented contemporary dancer, insanely creative face paint and some awesome special effects.
What’s more, it was all
